11. CENTER KNIFE UP/DOWN GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Shifting Center Knife Up - Into Cutting Area: The 24 volts is supplied directly through the center knife switch to the knife up solenoid (SVll) when the 'up' function is selected. Shifting Center Knife Down - Out Of Cutting Area: The 24 volts is supplied directly through the center knife switch to the knife dmm solenoid (SVlO) when the 'down' function is selected. NOTE: Set air regulator at 50 PSI; also there are two potentiometers on the sol– enoid valve; if adjustment is made to either one, l:eep the centerknife action set so that it will cooe up and down softly. If set to come down hard, it may cause the end dense to disappear.
When the center knife 3-position switch (S33) is in the 'normal' posi– tion, the center. knife will operate normally during the center dense por– tion of the· sew cycle. The center knife can also be held in the 'up' or 'down' position by selecting these settings manually with the switch. During 'normal' operation, the center knife is activated up into the cut– ting area when +24V de is supplied to solenoid SVll. The 24 volts for this function is provided through the clutch dog switch (S16) and the knife up switch (S32). The center knife will be deactivated back down out of the cutting area ,~1en +24V de is sup– plied to solenoid SVlO through switch S12 at the beginning of dense finish sewing. In this position, the center knife switch is essentially not in the circuit. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
